How Unmukt Was Born

A transition from urban tech to rural crafts that evolved into a thriving women-led movement.

"I realized that true innovation isn't just about code and servers; it is about human dignity, community enrichment, and unleashing the immense talent that already exists in rural India."

Jitendra left a rewarding engineering career to follow a calling: creating sustainable livelihoods in the heartland of Rajasthan. Identifying a lack of stable work for women, he established skill workshops that quickly blossomed. Today, he steers Unmukt's strategic vision, building B2B corporate partnerships that sustain hundreds of rural families.

2021

Stepping out of the Comfort Zone

Jitendra Singh makes the pivotal choice to leave his corporate engineering job, relocating to rural Rajasthan to research grassroots structural problems and agricultural dry-spells.

2022 (Q1)

The "She Dares" Initiative

Launches She Dares—a pilot group targeting basic financial literacy and community leadership dialogues among village women.

2022 (Q3)

Uncovering Latent Craft Talents

Discovering that many women possess ancestral knowledge of intricate hand embroidery, sewing, and stitching, hidden due to lack of market access.

2023

Structured Skill Development

Forming professional training clusters. Master artisans are brought in to refine stitching, quality standards, and teach contemporary product shapes.

2024

Livelihood Scale-up

Setting up steady payment infrastructures and introducing upcycled fabric lines, turning leftover materials into beautiful design toys and eco-friendly products.

2025 - Present

The Birth of Unmukt

The collective takes the official brand name "Unmukt" (meaning 'liberated'). It stands as a premium social enterprise supplying B2B buyers and enabling hundreds of artisans to thrive independently.
